Ball Bearing Orbit Blocks boast extremely high strength-to-weight ratios. This is achieved, where possible, by replacing most metal and redundant cheek components with high strength fiber reinforced polymer materials, and by offering a variety of inventive, strong, but lightweight attachment options, including thru-the-sheave beckets.
Lightweight - for a given working load BB Orbit Blocks are among the world's lightest; Series 30 single blocks typically have working loads of 8,000 to 10,000 times their own weight
Highest working load in its class - 2-stage bearing system (Series 30 and larger) features high compression grade acetal ball bearings and a secondary full-contact bushing which takes over under heavy loading, thus providing minimum friction across the full working load range
Secure and versatile attachement - the Dyneema fiber link, used in multi-sheave blocks, is produced from high spec SK75 fiber, which is 10 times stronger and lighter than steel, and more compatible with DyneemaSpectra rigging lines and webbing than traditional steel shackles; each block often features several attachment options
Low profile and compact - attachment is often directly to the head of the block, eliminating the head post; features ultra low-profile, thru-the-sheave beckets
High performance cleating - lightweight fiber-reinforced cleat arms and C-Cleats give secure rope holding with low entry and exit efforts; C-Cleats are fitted with fairleads for fast action from any angle
Blocks with high-load, self-lubricating Nylatron sheaves are non-ball bearing and are best suited for static loads such as halyards, backstays, etc.
